Mindfulness for Pain Management

Mindfulness for Pain Management

It is literally a Brain Gym! Training your brain to be in the present moment experiences, with openness and curiosity. It helps to keep the mind away from being lost in past or future.

- Mindfulness Therapy session will focus on Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR). PMR helps you to be more aware of your muscles and how tense they feel so that you are actively able to relax them; typically, a session will guide you through tensing muscles in each individual part of the body and then relaxing them. The main focus will be the painful area of the body. Evidence suggest that PMR lowers cortisol, the stress hormone and, “increases levels of endorphins leading to Pain Relief

Mindfulness helps us distinguish between primary pain (given) and secondary pain (optional) Secondary pain is only created when we’re fighting and resisting primary pain.

Mindfulness helps us to use breath awareness to release tension

Mindfulness helps us to develop a positive attitude. (The average person has about 30-70 thousand thoughts each day. When we haven’t learned to train our minds, about 75% of these thoughts are negative)

Mindfulness reduces inflammation and increases immunity by breaking the pattern of tension, stress and pain
